Job Title: Oncology Advanced Practice Provider - Acute Care

Specialty: Oncology – 4325

Start Date: May 6th, 2024

Contract Length: 26 Weeks (6 Months)

Shift Details:

  • Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM; 3 shifts a week (12-hour shifts)
  • Nights: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM; 3 shifts a week (13-hour shifts)
  • Must be able to work some weekends

Work Details:

  • Support Staff: To be determined
  • Amount of Coverage Needed per Month: 3 shifts per week (Day or night)
  • Patients per Day: To be determined
  • Patient Population/Age: Adults
  • Department Description: Oncology
  • EMR: EPIC
  • Hospital Bed Size: 943
  • Skills Required:
    • Experience working inpatient oncology
    • Clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities
    • Responsible for health outcomes of an assigned patient population
    • Confer with collaborating physician and other health professionals
    • Develop appropriate educational systems for patients, families, and staff
    • Actively participate in quality improvement and/or research
    • Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status
    • Provide direct clinical care to patients
    • Prescribe/orders medications, therapies; orders/interprets laboratory tests, x-rays, and procedures
    • Evaluate patients to determine their need for further health care
    • Provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families
    • Refer to other disciplines as appropriate
    • Integrates research-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision making
    • Exemplifies a professional image in appearance, manner, and presentation
    • Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community
    • Maintain certifications and continuing education as required for licensure and privileging
    • Participate in unit/departmental/divisional or hospital committees/task forces as appropriate
    • Provides comprehensive teaching strategies for patients and their families
    • Develops and participates in programs to meet continuing education needs of staff
    • Serve as a role model and preceptor to students
    • Provides formal education to both internal and external groups pertinent to the area of specialty

  • Certifications Preferred: ACLS
  • Certifications Required: BLS
