Salary: $150,000 – $240,000 annually (based on experience)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within a large academic medical center. This is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment caring for the most critically ill neonates, including extreme prematurity, congenital anomalies, cardiac, and surgical cases.
This role is ideal for NNPs who thrive in complex clinical settings, enjoy high-risk deliveries, and want to practice at the top of their license alongside an experienced multidisciplinary neonatal team.
Schedule (Hard Requirement)
- 1 Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 2 Night Shifts: 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM (16-hour shifts)
Unit Highlights
- Level IV NICU
- 45 licensed beds
- Approximately 7,000 births annually
- Dedicated neonatal transport team
- 24/7 in-house neonatology coverage
- Advanced technology including ECMO and high-frequency ventilation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced care to critically ill neonates (<32 weeks gestation, <1500g, congenital heart defects, surgical cases)
- Attend and lead high-risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, stabilization, and transfer to NICU
- Perform advanced procedures including intubation, umbilical lines, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, and PICC lines
- Manage complex ventilator strategies, nitric oxide, and ECMO support
- Conduct daily rounds, diagnostics, and treatment planning
- Collaborate with neonatologists, surgeons, subspecialists, and nursing staff
- Support and educate families through complex care journeys
Required Qualifications:
Education & Licensure
- Master of Nursing Degree
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Active (or eligible) California RN & Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) license
- Furnishing License
- National Nurse Practitioner Certification
- DEA License (Schedules II–V) – may be obtained during credentialing
- Current BLS & PALS (PALS may be completed post-offer)
Experience
- 1+ year experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, preferably in NICU
- 3+ years of RN experience
- Experience with inpatient neonatal care and high-risk deliveries
Compensation & Perks
- $150,000 – $240,000 salary range, strictly experience-based
- Higher compensation available for candidates with extensive NICU RN or NNP experience
- Relocation reimbursement up to $10,000
