Job Details

• Position: Locum Tenens Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
• Setting: Hospital-based Level IV NICU / Newborn ICU
• Location: Oakland, CA 94609
• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Contract Length: 26 weeks
• Start Date: 11/2/2026
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $5,040 - $5,400
• Patient Population: Neonates and infants from birth to 1 year of age
• Work Environment: High-acuity inpatient neonatal care with opportunities to support a collaborative care team

Job Requirements

• 2-3 years of neonatal experience in Level III or Level IV NICU settings
• Board certification in Neonatology required
• Current California state license required
• DEA with California address and Schedule II/II-N registration required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• If applying as an NP, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification (NNP-BC) required
• All certifications must be AHA-approved
• Must be able to complete CMS Medicare and Medicaid enrollment during credentialing
• Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced critical care environment

Responsibilities

• Provide primary clinical care for inpatient newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU setting
• Work collaboratively with physicians, surgeons, APP colleagues, and support staff
• Perform duties related to patient care that are clearly defined within the care team workflow
• Support safe, high-quality delivery of care for neonates with complex medical needs
• Contribute to productivity and coverage expectations established by leadership
• May support cross-coverage needs as appropriate within the neonatal service line
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Participate in a team-based environment focused on excellent outcomes for infants and their families
