Coverage Needed: seeking NP/PA to start on August 2025
Shift description: 12 and 24 hour shifts
Requirements:
--Board Certified - Neonatology/experienced NICU PA
--Active New York License
--Must have experience and be comfortable managing patients independently
Neonatal Required Procedures:
• Nursery Level III/NICU
• Ventilation Management
• Invasive (ETT)
• Non-invasive (BiPAP/CPAP)
• Chest Tube Insertion
• Exchange Transfusions
• UAC/UVC placement, LPs
• Evaluation & Management of Acute Volume/BP Issues
• Insertion of Central Line
• Insertion of Arterial Line
• Diagnostic/Therapeutic Taps
Assignment Details:
• Practice Setting: NICU Level III
• Reason for Coverage: LOA, loss/decrease time of current staff
• Dates of Coverage: Around mid-August 2025
• Shift: Reliable weekend coverage needed for 12 and/or 24 hour shifts
• Neonatologists in Group: 3
• Pediatricians in Group: Only pediatricians are current neonatologists
• Pediatric Mid-Levels in Group: 6 plus 1 per diem
• Other Neonatologists Providing Coverage During Locums: No, 3 full-time neonatologists
• Locums Responsible for Supervising: Yes, RNs in the NICU and other ancillary staff as needed (not NNPs)
• Support Staff: Neonatologist present during the day and on-call 24 hours otherwise
• Number of Exam Rooms: 16-bed unit
• Average Number of Admissions Per Day: 0–2 per shift
• Total Number of Beds: 16-bed NICU unit; well baby problems covered only during night shift
• NICU Level: Level III
• Required to Attend C-Sections: Yes
• Required to Cover Level I (Well-Baby) Nursery: Yes
• Required to Transfer Neonates: No
• Referral/Transfer Protocol: No transport requirement; regional Level IV NICU 5 minutes away manages all transports
• Average Number of Patients Per Day: 8–9
• Documentation System/EMR: EPIC
