Job Title: Locum Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine

Job Summary:

We are seeking General Medicine Nurse Practitioners to conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments in Houston, TX. This position offers the flexibility of per diem work alongside opportunities to make a real impact in the lives of those who have served our country. Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform one-time non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and separation health assessments.
  • Conduct primarily interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments, such as range of motion and muscle strength testing.
  • Complete reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and submit them within 48 hours of exam completion.
  • Utilize Goniometer for assessments and ensure accuracy in evaluations.
  • Maintain familiarity with musculoskeletal, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions.
  • Participate in training for all reporting and DBQs as needed.
  • Carry out record reviews as required in most cases.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Active and unrestricted full nurse practitioner license.
  • Proficient in METs testing, evaluating, and diagnosing respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have a personal laptop (non-Mac) for reporting and documentation.
  • Willingness to complete DMA training for certification.
  • Current CV with a home address listed.
  • For internationally educated candidates, a copy of the ECFMG certificate is required.

License and Certification Requirements:

  • Board certification is mandatory.
  • Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Texas.
  • DMA certification required upon privileging - must be obtained post-hire.
