Job Opportunity: Locum Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine
Join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals committed to serving our nation's veterans. This role is a fantastic opportunity to perform compensation and pension exams and separation health assessments. Based in a dynamic environment in Houston, TX, we offer two types of coverage options depending on your needs:
- Per diem at a specified facility within a 50-mile radius of your home address
- Your own office, accommodating veterans who reside in locations without a VES facility
As a government contractor helping our nation's Veterans, you will become an integral part of a mission-driven community. This position allows for flexible work hours, whether you're looking for half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) shifts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams and separation health assessments
- Conduct interviews and perform physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Provide quick and thorough documentation of findings and submit reports
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the holistic care of veterans
- Maintain a commitment to ongoing education and familiarization with updates in veteran care
Qualifications:
- Proficient in METs testing, with the ability to evaluate and diagnose respiratory and cardiovascular conditions
- Possess a valid AANP certification
- Hold an active and unrestricted nursing license
- Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine is preferred
- Must have competency in using a laptop for documentation (no Mac/Apple products)
- Willingness to complete required DMA training for certification
License and Certification Requirements:
- Active South Dakota nursing license
- AANP certification (American Association of Nurse Practitioners)
- Must submit a self-query NPDB within the last month
