Locum tenens Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care, Surgical Oncology) – Nights in San Francisco, CA (94115). Immediate need for an experienced NP with California license and Epic EMR experience.

Join a world-class healthcare team in the heart of San Francisco for a 26-week locum tenens assignment in an outpatient thoracic surgery clinic focused on oncology. This acute care nurse practitioner role offers independent clinic management with collaborative support from surgeons and interdisciplinary teams. Ideal candidates will have outpatient surgical oncology or thoracic surgery experience and be comfortable working night shifts.

Qualifications

  • Active California Nurse Practitioner license (required)
  • Board certification: A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC
  • California DEA registration with Schedule 2 / 2n authority
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in outpatient surgical oncology or thoracic surgery (acute care NP experience preferred)
  • Strongly prefer prior experience in a university medical center or academic hospital setting
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage an outpatient thoracic surgery clinic with RN support, focusing on surgical oncology patients
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute surgical and oncology-related issues for adult patients
  • Collaborate with thoracic surgeons, oncology teams, and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate care
  • Perform clinic-based procedures such as drain removals, wound and incision care, and postoperative assessments
  • Document clinical encounters, orders, and care plans using Epic EMR
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards in an outpatient surgical oncology setting
