A Level I Trauma Center in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP/AGNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) for a locum tenens opportunity from May through July, with up to full-time coverage available.

This is an excellent opportunity for an APP with strong inpatient, trauma, ICU, or surgical experience who is comfortable practicing at the top of their license in a high-acuity hospital setting.

Compensation

  • $100–$130 per hour
  • Preferred local providers
  • Mileage reimbursed only
  • No reimbursement for credentialing costs or application fees

Practice Setting

  • Level I Adult Trauma Center (also cares for Pediatrics)
  • Primarily functioning as Trauma Hospitalist Rounder
  • In-house coverage only – No call
  • Staffed with Trauma Surgeon 24/7
  • EMR: Epic

Schedule

  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Required)
  • Greatly prefers a candidate that is open to either Day or Night shift.
  • May–July coverage
  • Up to full-time hours available

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Daily rounding and full management of admitted trauma patients
  • 10–14 non-ICU patients per day
  • 6 ICU patients per day
  • 2–15 admissions per 24 hours
  • Respond to ED trauma alerts
  • ER admissions
  • Facilitate discharges
  • Attend on all patient conditions (no hospitalist service utilized)

Preferred/Required Procedures

(Experience in these areas strongly preferred)

  • Ventilation management (including BiPAP/CPAP)
  • Chest tube insertion
  • Central line placement
  • Arterial line placement
  • Suturing minor lacerations

Requirements

All required at name clear unless otherwise noted:

  • Board Certified ACNP, AGNP, or PA-C (No FNPs)
  • Active Minnesota license
  • ACLS, ATLS, PALS
  • DEA (verbal confirmation required)
  • Self-Query NPDB report (must be pulled same month as submission)
  • Minimum 1 year inpatient APP experience
  • Trauma, ICU, orthopedics experience strongly preferred
  • Must be comfortable practicing autonomously
