Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner Job Details

• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel contract)
• Location: On-site at Urgent Care Center, Winston-Salem, NC (27103)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for ongoing coverage
• Hours per Week: 36
• Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts
• Patient Population: Adults and Pediatrics (ages 6 months+)
• Average Patient Encounters: 20 per shift
• EMR System: Epic (training provided)

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of NP experience in urgent care or acute care clinical settings
• Board Certification (NP Boards required)
• Current Family Nurse Practitioner Certification
• BLS certification
• Experience with Epic EMR or willingness to complete EMR training
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently as sole provider in urgent care center

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive urgent care services to adult and pediatric patients
• Perform minor procedures: I&D, laceration repair, ear irrigation, and other acute care interventions
• Conduct patient assessments, diagnosis, and develop treatment plans
• Accurately document patient encounters using Epic EMR
• Collaborate with healthcare support staff: Center Manager, Medical Assistant, Patient Service Associate
• Participate in onboarding and EMR training prior to first solo shift
• Provide compassionate, high-quality care in a fast-paced urgent care environment
