Nurse Practitioner - Hematology Oncology Advanced Practice Opportunity - Lafayette, LA
Position Overview
Ochsner Clinic Foundation is seeking a locum tenens provider to cover a 6-month assignment at Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana at OLGMC in Lafayette, Louisiana. This is a high-volume hematology oncology practice with complex patients requiring experienced clinical support until a full-time Nurse Practitioner joins the team.
Key Responsibilities
See approximately 10-12 patients per day in a clinic setting with an outpatient infusion suite featuring 16 infusion chairs
Manage a full panel of complex patients with multiple comorbidities
Provide treatment visits, follow-ups, and select new patient appointments
Coordinate comprehensive care for patients requiring chemotherapy and biotherapy
Work with 2 Medical Oncologists (1 full-time and 1 part-time) and a fully staffed team including 2 full-time Nurse Practitioners, 20 RNs, 2 Medical Assistants, and 10 office staff members
Rotate Saturday call coverage (8am to noon) approximately once every 3 months
Work scheduled hours Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with no hospital inpatient rounding or on-call hospital consult coverage
Candidate Requirements
3-5 years of hematology oncology experience required
Board certification in Nursing or relevant specialty; certified status required with active registration
Licensed in Louisiana or IMLC compact license
BLS certification required
Chemotherapy certification required for Nurse Practitioners
Fellowship training required
Must have CV/Resume available for submission
Must be able to obtain LA Patient Care Fund coverage during credentialing
No open or pending malpractice claims
