JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Nurse Practitioner – Hematology/Oncology
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Providence, RI
• Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: 04/06/2026 – Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00a – 4:00p; full-time or 1–2 weeks per month
• On-Call Shift Schedule: Shared rotational call coverage
COVERAGE DATES
• Starting 04/06/2026 – Ongoing
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Patient Volume/Census: Outpatient volume approximately 18–22 patients per day; inpatient volume varies based on consults
• Admissions: Yes
• Rounding: Included; inpatient rounding approximately 1–2 hours daily based on consult volume
• Phone Consults: As clinically appropriate
• Case Mix: Hematology and Oncology patient care in outpatient and inpatient settings
FACILITY INFORMATION
• EMR System: Meditech with partial paper charting (approximately 80% paper, 20% EMR)
• Office Equipment Available: Standard oncology clinic and inpatient equipment
• Specialty Backup Available: Hematology/Oncology physician onsite
• Support Staff Available: Clinical and nursing support staff
• Reason for Coverage: Supplemental locum coverage
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 4–8 weeks

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Hematology and oncology patient evaluation and management
• Inpatient consults and rounding
• Outpatient oncology clinic management
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Rhode Island license required; willing to license
• Board: Nurse Practitioner certification required
• DEA: Required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner experience
• Other Qualifications: Experience working in both inpatient and outpatient oncology settings
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide hematology and oncology care in outpatient clinic and inpatient settings
• Perform daily inpatient rounding and consult management
• Collaborate with onsite Hematology/Oncology physician
• Manage patient treatment plans and follow-up care
• Document patient encounters in Meditech and paper charting systems
