Are you a NP with experience in Hematology/Oncology interested in opportunities to serve our nation's heroes in Charleston, SC? The Ralph H Johnson VA Health Care System has a new opportunity within the Medicine Service Specialty Team.

The Nurse Practitioner in Hematology / Oncology will be an integral member working in a Hematology / Oncology outpatient and inpatient environment and managing a panel of Veterans assessed as needing Hematology / Oncology care and follow-up visits, managing Veteran's needs for follow up (including imaging, tests, appropriate, and clinic visits), managing inpatient Hematology / Oncology consults, managing referrals to VA or non-VA centers and seeking consultations for Hematology / Oncology treatment, follow up with Veterans who have received their Hematology / Oncology care in the community by assuring these Veterans are managed appropriately and not lost to follow up.

Job Responsibilities

Assisting Hematology / Oncology MD's in post-procedures results calls, e-­consults. Triage consult, perform a-consults, learn to perform telehealth visits and WC visits as well. Develop plans of Hematology / Oncology care for patients with recommendation of further diagnostic evaluations including laboratory and pathology evaluations to facilitate care. Communicate with PCP related to the care plan. Manage Hematology / Oncology clinic needs including: urgent clinic visits, to include radiology, ultrasounds, CT, MRls, and lab work, manage inpatient liver and Hematology / Oncology consults. Manage referrals to VA and non-VA centers for care not delivered in our VA and seek consultation for Hematology / Oncology management, follow-up with Hematology / Oncology patients. Order and prescribe treatments and medications aimed at preventing health problems or maintaining health. Make informed decisions regarding therapeutic intervention based on patient information and preferences, up-to-date scientific evidence, and clinical judgement and consult with the Hematology / Oncology physician provider when needed.

Working Hours

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 07:30-16:00 Subject to change based on agency needs.
