Our client is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a short-term locum assignment providing behavioral health services within long-term care facilities throughout Rhode Island.
Our client has facilities in Warwick, Westerly, North Kingstown, Greenville, Newport, and East Providence. Candidates would NOT be expected to cover all locations and would typically be assigned to no more than 3 towns.
This is a great opportunity for an NP who enjoys autonomy while still having the support of an established interdisciplinary clinical team.
Job Responsibilities
Develop individualized treatment plans
Prescribe and manage behavioral and psychiatric medications
Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and patient response
Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care
Collaborate with psychiatrists and other members of the interdisciplinary clinical team
Work closely with nurse practitioners, psychologists, clinical pharmacists, physicians, nursing staff, and facility leadership
Document patient encounters and clinical notes accurately within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Provide consultation to facility staff regarding patient care and psychopharmacology
Write medication orders as clinically appropriate
Participate in case reviews, consultations, and utilization review
Provide in-service education to facility staff as needed
Respond to urgent clinical needs from assigned facilities
Help ensure continuity of care through strong communication with facility and clinical teams
Qualifications
Active Rhode Island Nurse Practitioner license
At least 6 months of experience prescribing medication
State controlled-substance license or ability to obtain
DEA registration or ability to obtain
Ability to meet organizational and facility credentialing requirements
Ability to become credentialed with Medicare, Medicaid, and other applicable payers
Collaborative agreement or physician attestation when required by state regulations
Strong clinical assessment, medication management, and documentation skills
Working Hours
32–40 hours per week

Coverage limited to no more than 3 Rhode Island towns
