Job Description:

This role offers the opportunity to provide essential primary care services within an ICE correctional facility, delivering medical support to detained immigrant adults who are navigating an already difficult and vulnerable situation. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, you will perform comprehensive assessments, manage acute and chronic conditions, prescribe treatments, and support overall health needs for a diverse population housed in a secure environment. The FNP is responsible for providing gentle and nurturing care to the patient population of immigrants who are already facing a challenging situation. We are seeking healthcare providers who wish to lighten the load for these patients and provide high-level primary care to these vulnerable individuals. Working collaboratively with the facility physician and interdisciplinary team, the NP ensures continuity of care, adherence to clinical standards, and compassionate support for patients in a structured, regulated setting.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive physical exams, health assessments, and diagnostic testing for individuals housed in the ICE correctional facility.
• Develop and implement patient care plans, including interpreting diagnostics and prescribing appropriate treatments within NP scope.
• Provide primary care, chronic disease management, and health education tailored to the needs of detained immigrant patients.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure strict confidentiality of protected health information.
• Collaborate closely with the facility physician, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary partners to coordinate and monitor care.
• Ensure compliance with correctional regulations, pharmacy laws, and established clinical protocols.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and continuity of care, advocating for appropriate release from outside facilities when medically justified.
• Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and activities that support safe clinical operations within a secure environment.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Current Nurse Practitioner license and certification in the state of practice.
• National NP certification (AANP, ANCC) preferred.
• Specialty certification if required by state regulations or the client.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of one (1) year of NP experience preferred; correctional experience is a plus.
• Active BLS certification and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain collaboration agreements (if required by state).
• Must meet federal, state, and local requirements, including ICE clearance and background/credit checks.
• TB/PPD or chest X-ray and current health certificate as required.
• DEA required.
