Job Title: Director of Medical Services – Family Nurse Practitioner

Location: Hybrid (Remote with required onsite presence based on patient needs and admissions cadence)

Hours & Schedule: Normal Business Hours

Work Environment: Hybrid role combining telehealth, onsite clinical care, and medical department leadership within adolescent behavioral health treatment programs.

Travel Required: Occasional local travel between program locations as needed.

Salary / Hourly Rate: $135,000 – $155,000 annually

On Call Required: Yes – participation in medical on-call rotation and escalation support.

Job Summary:

The Director of Medical Services – Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) provides clinical care while leading and overseeing medical services across adolescent behavioral health programs. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient medical operations, including medication management systems, admission medical clearance, clinical documentation standards, and coordination with external healthcare providers. The Director supervises medical staff, including Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses, and additional Nurse Practitioners, while maintaining accountability for medical department performance and compliance. This position combines approximately 60% clinical care with 40% leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive medical evaluations, ongoing patient assessments and medication prescriptions, and monitor medications using evidence-based practices
  • Order and interpret laboratory testing and screenings
  • Educate patients and families on medications and treatment plans
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supervise medical staff, including Medical Assistants and Nurse Practitioners
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and department accountability
  • Coordinate care with outside physicians, laboratories, pharmacies, and medical vendors
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
  • Support regulatory compliance, audits, and accreditation standards
  • Maintain appropriate onsite presence for admissions, patient evaluations, and team collaboration
  • Participate in a medical on-call rotation for urgent clinical consultation

Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified (FNP-BC)
  • Active state Nurse Practitioner license
  • Prescriptive authority within the scope of practice
  • Strong clinical assessment and medication management skills
  • Leadership experience supervising medical staff preferred
