Position Overview
We are seeking a Full-Time or Part-Time Locum Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a high-volume outpatient clinic in Houston, TX. This role combines Occupational Medicine and Primary Care, with a strong emphasis on DOT physicals (required).
This is an ongoing assignment with an ASAP start date.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturdays: 1st & 3rd Saturday (optional)
- No call
- Minimum coverage: 4 days/week preferred
- Open to full-time
- Will consider part-time (1–3 set weekdays)
Patient Volume & Demographics
- 25–35 patients per provider/day
- Clinic total: 60–80 patients/day
- Ages primarily 30–70
- Fast-paced environment (not a low-volume practice)
Clinical Responsibilities
~60–70% Occupational Medicine
- DOT Physicals (REQUIRED)
- Drug Screens
- Work Injuries
- Employment Physicals
~30–40% Primary Care
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Chronic Care Management
- Sick Visits
Requirements
- Licensed NP or PA
- Active Texas license
- DOT Certification (REQUIRED – non-negotiable)
- Comfortable seeing 25–35 patients/day
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Must be comfortable in a high-volume setting
Medicaid: Not accepted
Support Staff
- 6 Medical Assistants (3 Family Practice / 3 Occupational Medicine)
- 6 Cross-trained Receptionists
- Office Manager
- Physician onsite daily
- No EMR
- Credentialing completed within a few days
Trial Requirement
Providers must complete several trial shifts (approximately one week) before long-term commitment. Final placement is contingent upon successful in-clinic observation.

- Mileage Covered
- No hotel coverage
- Preference for local or semi-local providers
