As a Locum Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine, you will play a crucial role in conducting Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, supporting our nation's veterans with professionalism and compassion. This dynamic role offers you the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, utilizing your expertise to make a meaningful impact.

Required Skills:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
  • Experience in General Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or similar fields
  • Ability to perform interview-based assessments and physical examinations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation and reports accurately

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or veteran-related assessments
  • Familiarity with veteran healthcare protocols and requirements
  • Bilingual abilities for enhanced communication with diverse patient populations

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice, preferably in a primary care or general medicine setting
  • Previous experience in a locum or temporary position is advantageous

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work flexible hours including half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) shifts
  • Willingness to travel within a 50-mile radius of Houston, TX, for different assignment locations
  • Must have own office space for practice or be prepared for on-site assignments at VES facilities, depending on the assignment
  • Certification in BLS or ACLS preferred but not mandatory
  • Willingness to complete required training and onboarding processes promptly
