Locum - Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine Houston, TX

Join our dynamic team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine and make a meaningful impact supporting our nation's Veterans. This flexible and vital role offers the chance to deliver expert assessments and evaluations, providing essential services for our heroes while enjoying competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations, primarily focusing on interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. You will be responsible for completing exams efficiently, submitting detailed reports, and performing follow-up administrative work. No prescribing or treatment is involved.

Required Skills:
  • Active Nurse Practitioner license with experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related general medicine fields.
  • Ability to perform interview-based exams and physical assessments.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage examinations efficiently within designated timeframes.
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of your designated location or have your own office within the specified radius (if required).

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Past experience with Compensation and Pension evaluations.
  • Certification in relevant medical specialties.
  • Familiarity with veteran healthcare or government contractor procedures.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Prior experience in general medicine or veterans' healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform procedural assessments in a fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements:
  • Own or access to a qualified medical office within the designated radius (for providers operating from their own office).
  • Willingness to work PRN, on a flexible schedule, including half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts.
  • Must complete required training and first exams to qualify for bonus.
  • Ability to perform follow-up administrative tasks such as reporting and documentation.
  • Local candidates only; travel reimbursement included in pay rates.

Compensation at an hourly rate of $402.00, with flat rates for half-day and full-day shifts ($600 and $1200 respectively). Eligible candidates will also receive a one-time bonus of $650 for completing training and initial exams.
