Locums Family Nurse Practitioner
Suffolk County, Long Island, New York

Clinical Role

  • Locum tenens opportunity

  • Seeking a Board Certified or truly Board Eligible Family Nurse Practitioner

  • Academic setting: college health medical office

  • Low patient census

  • Flexible contract terms

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday

  • 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

  • No weekends

  • No holidays

  • No call

Position Description
The Family Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive primary and urgent care services to students in a college health setting. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for acute, episodic, and select chronic conditions while promoting health, wellness, and disease prevention in a diverse student population.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive health histories and physical examinations

  • Diagnosing conditions and developing treatment plans

  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests

  • Prescribing medications and therapies

  • Providing routine gynecologic exams, Pap smears, and STI evaluation

  • Evaluating pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, and vaginal symptoms

  • Contraceptive counseling and management

  • Delivering patient education on diagnoses, treatment options, medications, preventive care, immunizations, sexual and reproductive health, and self-care strategies

  • Collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, mental health providers, and campus partners

  • Making appropriate referrals and managing follow-up care

  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record

The FNP practices with a high degree of clinical autonomy within established scope-of-practice guidelines while maintaining a strong focus on patient-centered care, clinical safety, and timely access to services.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or truly Board Eligible Family Nurse Practitioner

  • Experience with women’s health and primary care strongly preferred
