Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Family Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team within Student Health Services at a renowned university located in Suffolk County, NY. You will be delivering comprehensive primary and urgent care to a diverse college student population, providing autonomous, evidence-based evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, preventive services, and reproductive health care in a campus health setting. The role emphasizes patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, timely access to care, appropriate referrals, and accurate electronic documentation to ensure safe, coordinated, and high-quality health outcomes. This is a low volume/low stress opportunity.
The pay range for this position is flexible and starts at $78-$82/hour (Negotiable based on experience)

Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute, episodic, and select chronic conditions
- Perform health histories, physical exams, and develop treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe medications and therapies
- Provide routine gynecologic care, STI evaluation, and contraceptive management
- Promote health education, disease prevention, and immunizations
- Deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare and campus partners
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up care as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation
Qualifications
- Current national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP)
- Active, unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses
- Completion of required clinical practice hours to practice independently under New York State Nurse Practitioner Practice Act (minimum 3,600 hours or equivalent full-time experience)
- Current prescriptive authority and DEA eligibility
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Working Hours
Duration: Through the end of the semester in May

- Ability to practice autonomously within scope-of-practice guidelines
- Proficiency in health histories, physical exams, diagnostic testing, and prescribing
- Experience delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Competence in women’s health services, including gynecologic exams, STI evaluation, and contraceptive management
- Effective patient education and counseling skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to coordinate referrals and follow-up care
- Cultural competence and experience working with diverse populations
- Proficiency with electronic health records and timely, accurate documentation
