Director of Nursing Position (NP/PA) in Northern California

AMN Healthcare is partnering with a county-based public health organization in Northern California to recruit a Director of Nursing to lead its Public Health Nursing Division in Northern California. This senior-level leadership opportunity is well suited for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant seeking a predominantly administrative role with meaningful impact at the community level.

This position is approximately 95% administrative and focuses on leadership, program oversight, regulatory compliance, and public health operations rather than routine patient care.

Position Highlights

• Senior leadership role within County Public Health
• 95% administrative / leadership focused
• Oversees Public Health Nursing and grant-funded programs
• No patient panel; minimal clinical involvement
• Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• No routine nights or weekends
• CalPERS pension program

Candidate Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Active California license (or ability to obtain)
• Ideal candidates have 5+ years experience
