Job description
NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a part-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support our Cedar Park clinic in the Austin, TX market.
Position Overview
This is a part-time urgent care position based in Cedar Park (Austin, TX). Providers care for patients of all ages and manage a broad scope of services, including acute illnesses and injuries, pediatrics, occupational medicine, X-rays, and lab services. Providers should be comfortable practicing independently while collaborating with a regional clinical team.
Schedule & Shift Expectations
Clinics operate seven days per week with the following hours:

Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Part-time providers are required to work a minimum of 4 shifts per month. Shifts are typically 10–12 hours, depending on clinic needs and day of the week. Schedules are coordinated in advance to support flexibility while ensuring appropriate coverage.
Providers must be able to work occasional weekends and holidays; the frequency of these shifts will depend on facility assignment and scheduling needs.
Providers are assigned a primary (home) clinic at NextCare Urgent Care – Cedar Park (Austin, TX). Occasional floating to nearby NextCare clinics within the Austin market may be required to support coverage needs.
Highly Preferred Qualifications

At least 1 year of urgent care, ER fast-track, or walk-in clinic experience

Comfort with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiologist over-read

Strong procedural skills, including suturing and minor procedures

Ability to practice independently in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with clinical best practices in an urgent care and/or occupational health setting

Provide compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care aligned with NextCare’s mission and values

Independently manage patient care while collaborating with clinical staff

Diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and clearly communicate next steps to patients

Accurately document care in the electronic health record (EHR)

Ensure appropriate coding and billing for services rendered

Maintain clinical productivity and professionalism consistent with industry standards
Essential Education, Experience, and Skills
-
Active and unrestricted Texas medical license

Active DEA registration
-
NCCPA certification (Physician Assistant) or ANCC/AANP certification (Nurse Practitioner)

Nurse Practitioners must be certified to treat all age groups (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner)

Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or Master’s degree in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner)

Active BLS certification

Comfortable treating patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric

Strong EHR proficiency
-
DOT certification may be required; if not currently certified, NextCare will provide training at no cost
