Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner – Pathology in Bismarck, ND

Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for pathology and a desire to make a meaningful impact in a hospital setting? We are seeking a skilled and motivated Locum Nurse Practitioner to support our pathology lab team at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, North Dakota. This temporary role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical diagnostic processes during a pivotal time, ensuring quality patient care through detailed specimen analysis.

This position is ideal for providers experienced in gross examination of biopsies and complex specimens, performing frozen sections, and handling surgical resection cases with precision. Your expertise will be integral to maintaining the high standards of our pathology services while enjoying the flexibility of a short-term assignment.

Required Skills:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner licensure in North Dakota
  • Certification in pathology-related procedures
  • Ability to perform frozen section cases and complex surgical resections
  • Experience working with hospital pathology labs
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically Epic and SoftPath
  • Strong attention to detail and diagnostic acumen

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience in a hospital pathology lab setting
  • Familiarity with medical renal and muscle biopsies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with support staff, including grossing and histology technicians

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Prior experience in pathology or surgical specimens preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience

Other Requirements:
  • Availability from February through April 2025
  • Must be able to work days, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • No rounding involved; primarily focused on specimen analysis
  • Travel and lodging arrangements are flexible; options for air travel and accommodations can be discussed
  • Credentialing is not required for this assignment
  • Must be non-certified, capable of handling frozen sections and complex cases
