About this role:

As an Epilepsy Advanced Practice Provider (APP; nurse practitioner or physician assistant) at Intermountain Health, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience. In this role you will be one of two dedicated epilepsy APPs, working alongside 4 epileptologists, and part of the larger Neuroscience Institute group, including in-person and tele-neurohospitalists, neuro critical care physicians, outpatient neurologists, neuro and spine PM&R physicians, neuro-psychologists and psychiatrists.

Our growing and specialized epilepsy program provides those with epilepsy in the Intermountain West access to the latest research and treatment options. The program has been named a Level 4 Epilepsy Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers - which is the highest level of certification possible for an epilepsy program. The designation recognizes the program's professional expertise and its ability to provide the highest level of medical and surgical evaluations and treatment for patients with epilepsy and other seizure disorders.

In this role you can anticipate:

  • Practicing at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah
  • With physician support, maintain an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU); the APP will admit, round, and maintain care for patients in EMU
  • Assist in epilepsy outpatient clinic; seeing patients for return visits, follow-up visits, chronic care, etc.
  • 4x10's (M,T,TH,F); days split between the outpatient clinic and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
  • 1:6 rotating weekend EMU coverage, with compensatory day off
  • Relocation assistance as needed

What you’ll bring:

  • APRN or PA-C degree from an accredited program
  • Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one
  • BLS certification and DEA
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
