Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with expertise in General Medicine to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations in New Mexico. This position offers the flexibility to operate out of your own practice within a 50-mile radius, conducting essential evaluations that support Veterans’ benefits processes. Required Skills:
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license with certification in your state
  • Proven experience in general medicine or related fields such as internal medicine or family practice
  • Knowledge of compensation and pension (C&P) exam procedures is advantageous
  • Excellent interview and physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately and efficiently within specified timeframes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with Veterans’ healthcare or familiarity with VA evaluation procedures
  • Certification in additional specialties (e.g., orthopedics, internal medicine)
  • Experience with telehealth or remote assessments

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience performing assessment exams in a healthcare or military-related setting

Other Requirements:
  • Own a private practice or clinic with the capacity to perform exams within a 50-mile radius of your location
  • Willingness to work PRN on an ongoing basis, with flexible arrangements for half-day or full-day shifts
  • No specific travel reimbursements are provided beyond your local practice expenses
  • Ability to complete required administrative documentation and follow-up reports
  • Valid state licensure and certifications necessary for independent practice
