Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner in General Medicine – MN

Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner seeking a flexible, impactful role that supports our nation’s Veterans? We are looking for qualified, proactive professionals to provide essential medical assessments across Minnesota. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while enjoying competitive pay and flexible scheduling.

In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical assessments, to support Veterans’ benefits processes. Your expertise will help ensure our Veterans receive timely, comprehensive evaluations, contributing directly to their well-being and benefits. This is an excellent chance for experienced providers to work PRN, with scheduling tailored to your availability on days that suit you.

Required Skills:
  • Active Nurse Practitioner license in Minnesota
  • Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
  • Strong interviewing skills and physical assessment capabilities, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience in compensation and pension exams or military healthcare settings
  • Knowledge of Veterans’ healthcare needs and benefits processes
  • Certification in related specialties (e.g., Orthopedic Surgery background)

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or higher
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in general or internal medicine
  • Experience performing disability exams or related assessments is advantageous

Other Requirements:
  • Provider must own or have access to an appropriate office location within 25 miles of the specified Minnesota sites (Detroit Lakes, Bemidji, Rochester)
  • Willingness to work on a PRN basis, with flexibility for half-day or full-day shifts
  • Ability to complete exams and reports efficiently, including administrative follow-up
  • This role involves travel within the specified regions; no reimbursements for certifications or portal training are provided prior to start date
  • Start Date: December 31, 2025

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly pay rate: $402.00
  • Flat rate of $600 for half-day (up to 4 hours) exams
  • Flat rate of $1200 for full-day (5 hours or more) exams
  • One-time bonus of $650 upon completing initial training and first exams
  • Weekly pay via direct deposit
