Job Title: Locum - Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine CA

Overview:
VHS is seeking skilled Nurse Practitioners with a focus on General Medicine to provide vital Compensation & Pension examinations and Separation Health Assessments across various locations in California. This position offers flexible, part-time opportunities on a PRN basis, enabling you to contribute to the well-being of veterans while maintaining your professional independence. Required Skills:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in California
  • Experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
  • Proficiency in conducting interview-based assessments and physical examinations (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with veterans' healthcare needs is a plus

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams or military/veteran healthcare
  • Certification in specific assessments or specialties related to general medicine
  • Experience working in a remote or flexible clinical setting

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree or higher in Nursing (NP)
  • At least 2 years of clinical practice in general medicine or related specialty
  • Prior experience performing compensation and pension examinations is advantageous but not required

Other Requirements:
  • Must have own office location or reside within specified radius for designated sites; some locations require a provider’s home address within 50 miles
  • Willingness to travel within assigned areas as needed (travel included in rates)
  • Ability to complete exams and submit reports within scheduled timeframes
  • Clear background check and credentialing process
  • No prescribing or treatment responsibilities; exams are interview-based with some physical assessments

Enjoy competitive compensation with a flat rate of $402 per hour, based on the number of hours worked. This role offers the flexibility to choose between half-day and full-day shifts, with no overtime or holiday rates applicable. A one-time bonus of $650 is available upon completing all required training and performing your first exams.
