VHS, a Maximus company and trusted government contractor, is looking for experienced Nurse Practitioners in General Medicine to provide vital Compensation and Pension exams as well as Separation Health Assessments across Arizona. This PRN, ongoing role offers a rewarding chance to utilize your skills while harmonizing your professional and personal commitments.
In this role, you will conduct interview-based evaluations and some physical assessments—such as range of motion and muscle strength testing—to support veterans’ claims. No prescribing or treatment involved, making it an ideal position for professionals with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related fields. You will perform one-time assessments on a flexible schedule, with options to work half-day or full-day shifts, depending on your availability.

This position offers highly competitive pay at $402 per hour, with flat rates for half-day ($600) and full-day ($1200) shifts. Additionally, a one-time bonus of $650 is available for completing initial training and exams. Required Skills:
- Valid medical license in Arizona
- Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery
- Ability to perform interview-based assessments and basic physical examinations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and adherence to procedures
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience in compensation and pension evaluations
- Certification in relevant specialty areas
- Familiarity with VA or veteran-related healthcare evaluations
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree or higher in Nursing (e.g., MSN, DNP)
- Minimum of 2 years clinical practice in a primary care or related setting
- Prior experience with government or veteran healthcare assessments is advantageous
Other Requirements:
- Residency within 50 miles of the specified locations or own a suitable private office in the area
- Willingness to travel locally as required
- Ability to complete necessary credentialing and onboarding promptly
- Commitment to ongoing follow-up administrative work such as report submissions and addendums
