• Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,460 - $5,850
• Setting: Large teaching hospital – Pediatric ICU (PICU), Stepdown PICU, and PICU DOU
• Start Date: June 1, 2026
• End Date: December 28, 2026
• Duration: 8-9 months (30 weeks)
• Shift: Night shifts, 2-3 12-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:00); weekends and holidays included — ideal for night shift NP candidates
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Locum tenens / Travel NP contract

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience in a large Children’s Hospital (preferably Level 1) — pediatric critical care experience required
• Active California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license with furnishing privileges
• Board Certified in Acute Care (ACNP) or Pediatric Acute Care certification
• BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
• DEA license
• Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required

Responsibilities – PICU Nurse Practitioner (Night)

• Provide critical pediatric care coverage for the PICU (16 beds) and Stepdown PICU DOU (8 beds) during night shifts
• Serve as the primary provider for up to 8 patients in the DOU; this NP-run department has no Fellows or Residents overnight
• Collaborate in a shared care model with PICU Attendings, Fellows, and Residents when present
• Manage acute care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, and adolescent patients in a high-acuity environment
• Participate in weekend and holiday coverage as needed for consistent locum tenens coverage
