Job description Do you seek an opportunity to provide excellent patient care while advancing your career as a clinician? Look no further! The surgical intensive care advanced practice clinician (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) provides high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill surgical patients in the surgical ICU. This role supports the multidisciplinary team in managing complex postoperative and trauma patients, optimizing outcomes through advanced clinical assessment, evidence-based interventions, and collaborative care. The position is part-time and may include weekend, evening, or holiday coverage depending on unit needs.

Clinical Care
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill surgical patients, including history, physical exam, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and continuous monitoring
  • Manage pre- and postoperative surgical ICU patients, including those with trauma, general surgery, neurosurgery, vascular, cardiothoracic, and transplant needs (dependent on unit)
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams

Perform advanced procedures within scope of practice, which may include:
  • Central line placement
  • Arterial line insertion
  • Intubation (if credentialed)
  • Catheter replacement
  • Respond to changes in patient condition, including rapid clinical deterioration, and participate in resuscitation efforts
  • Write orders, document care, and ensure continuity during handoffs

Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited NP/PA program
  • Current licensure as an APRN (ACNP or AGACNP preferred) or PA in the state of practice
  • National board certification (ANCC/AANP or NCCPA)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of critical care, surgical, or acute care experience

Competitive Compensation, with an estimated base salary range of $75 to $90 hourly with the opportunity to earn incentives.
