Locum NP/PA-Emergency Medicine Needs in Michigan!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking local, Board-Certified Advanced Practice Providers (NPs/PAs) to provide locum coverage at a Level III Emergency Department building a dedicated APP float pool. APPs will work independently in the ED Fast Track (VUE) area while collaborating with 24/7 attending physician support in a high-volume, well-resourced emergency department.

Dates / Schedule

• Ongoing need to staff APP coverage as part of a float pool

• Primary APP shift: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM

• Shift frequency: One APP shift daily, 7 days per week

• Physician coverage model:

  • Single physician coverage from 2:00 AM – 8:00 AM

  • Peak coverage with 3 physicians from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

• Emergency Medicine residents present daily (no APP supervision required)

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Provide independent patient care in the Fast Track (VUE) area (10-bed unit within the ED)

• Manage a portion of approximately 110 ED patients per day across providers

• Collaborate with on-site attending physicians available 24/7 for consultation

• Utilize Cerner EMR

• Work in a Level III ED with:

  • Annual ED volume of ~40,150 visits

  • 50 ED beds

  • ~20% admission rate from the ED

  • ~60% of hospital admissions originating from the ED

• Follow established transfer and referral protocols (e.g., pediatrics to Sparrow, stroke to McLaren Flint)

• Access to full hospital services including:

  • 24-hour radiology and laboratory services

  • Blood bank, pathology, OR, and all surgical specialties

• Comply with reverse billing requirements via DocTime (clock in/out required)

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board-Certified NP or PA (required)

• Active Michigan license at time of name clear (IMLC not accepted)

• Local provider only (no travel or lodging exceptions)

• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience

• DEA registration (verbal confirmation at name clear)

• ACLS (AHA) and ATLS certifications (required)

• Clean background for expedited credentialing

• NPDB self-query (within 30 days of presentation)

Immunization & Health Requirements:

• Hep B, MMR, Varicella (vaccines or titers)

• Flu vaccine (current season)

• COVID documentation

• TB testing within 12 months

• TDAP within the last 10 years
