Schedule: 10, 24-hour shifts per month
Details: Critical Access Hospital Emergency Medicine and Hospitalist Program
o Emergency Medicine and Hospitalist 24-hour solo coverage
o EMR: Epic
o Acute/Swing Beds: 10
Average Encounters per day: ED – 9 per day, IP – 4-6 per day
Average Weekly Admissions: 6
Average Daily Discharges: ~1
Average LOS: 5.7 days
Subspecialty Support: Anesthesia, Gen Surg
o Compass Telemedicine: Pulmonology, Infectious Disease, Cardiology
o Avel E Care- Emergency Medicine and Inpatient Telemedicine backup
Ancillary Support: Lab, imaging, PT & OT
Nursing:
o Day: Floor 2 nurses and 1 Aid, ED 1 nurse
o Night: 2 nurses and 1 aid, whole facility
Acuity:
o Most common diagnosis: CHF, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, UTIs/sepsis
o Simple statement to describing acuity: low
o Who leads codes: ER provider and/or hospitalist.
o Rapid Responses: ER provider and/or hospitalist.
o How often do providers face emergent intubations: Approx. 2-3x per month.
o Central line placement- who normally takes lead: Current practice is the CRNA
Experience + Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine Experience
Comfortable working as the sole provider and performing all procedures
ATLS, ACLS, BLS
Active ND license or ability to obtain
Compensation & Benefits
Independent Contractor (1099)
Malpractice Insurance Covered
$216,000 annually for 10 shifts per month
Group Benefits available for full time providers (10 shifts per month)
Lodging on site – full bed, bathroom, desk and refrigerator
