Join McLaren Medical Group’s McLaren Central as a Locum Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant and play a vital role in delivering high-quality emergency care in a busy hospital setting. This opportunity offers autonomous practice within a supportive environment, providing essential coverage to meet patient needs during recruitment gaps. Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled NP/PA with extensive emergency department experience to work independently during a 10-hour shift (11 AM – 9 PM). While the APP will operate autonomously, a supervising physician will be available for consultation. This role involves managing approximately 20 patients daily within a 25-bed ED, utilizing Cerner EHR, and participating in a dynamic team committed to patient care excellence. The contract duration is from January 1, 2026, to April 9, 2026, with the potential for ongoing availability.

Required Skills:
  • Valid NP or PA license in Michigan
  • Proven emergency medicine experience, preferably with Level 4 trauma designation
  • Ability to independently assess, diagnose, and treat ED patients
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with Cerner EHR system
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently within a team setting

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Advanced cardiovascular or trauma experience
  • Certification in ACLS, ATLS, or PALS
  • Prior experience working in high-volume emergency departments
  • Bilingual abilities to enhance patient care

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant Studies (PA)
  • Board-certified NP or PA in emergency medicine or related specialty
  • At least 2 years of ED experience in a fast-paced hospital environment

Other Requirements:
  • Credentialing process estimated at approximately 90 days
  • Must provide immunization records including Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Flu, Covid, TB, and Tdap
  • Travel and lodging are reimbursable within specified policies; no third-party bookings or tax reimbursements
  • Must clock in/out via DocTime system; no timesheets accepted
  • Ability to respond to hospital emergency codes when required
