DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Job Title: Emergency Medicine NP/PA
- Job Type: Locum Tenens

- Coverage Type: Clinical Only
- Coverage Period: 01/01/2026 Open (minimum 6-month assignment)
- Clinical Shift Schedule: 7:00a7:00p and 7:00p7:00a (12-hour shifts, flexible schedule) COVERAGE DATES
- Starting January 1, 2026 (Open-ended contract; minimum 6-month assignment)
- Minimum commitment: 7 shifts per month
PATIENT INFORMATION
- Patient Demographics: All ages (mixed adult and pediatric population)
- Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 35 patients per day; 13,000 annual visits
- Admissions: 6.2% admission rate
- Phone Consults: As needed for specialty referrals
- Case Mix: General emergency cases; no trauma designation; approximately 6.4% EMS volume
FACILITY INFORMATION
- No. of Beds in Department: 24-hour staffed Emergency Department
- Trauma Level: None (non-designated facility)
- EMR System: Epic
- Office Equipment Available: Standard emergency medicine diagnostic and treatment tools
- Specialty Backup Available: Limited; independent APP practice under physician collaboration
- Support Staff Available: Nursing and allied health team support (no scribes)
- Reason for Coverage: Full-time vacancy
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
- Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
- Temporary Privileges Available: No (temporary privileges may be issued after references and documentation are verified)
- Credentialing Timeline: 4560 days
- Orientation: Required (includes EMR training and onboarding with PCC); completion of documentation and certifications prior to start
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered
- Overtime: Daily OT after 12 hours; weekly OT after 168 hours REQUIRED PROCEDURES
- General emergency medicine procedures and acute care management
- Proficiency required in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS (AHA)
- Management of all acuity levels including stabilization, airway management, and coordination with supervising physician
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Licenses: Active New York Nurse Practitioner license required
- DEA: Active New York DEA required
- Board: ANCC or AANP certification required
- Residency: Not applicable (must have relevant emergency, family, or internal medicine training)
- Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and ATLS (AHA) required
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of emergency or urgent care experience preferred
- Other Qualifications: Flu and PPD required (waivers considered); NPDB and background verification required for onboarding
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide emergency medical care in a 24-hour ED alongside physician team
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients across the full spectrum of emergency presentations
- Perform required emergency and urgent care procedures within scope of practice
- Collaborate with supervising physician, nursing, and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and order entry
- Maintain compliance with facility protocols, credentialing, and clinical documentation standards
- Participate in required orientation, EMR training, and performance improvement initiatives
