- Job Title: Emergency Medicine NP/PA

- Coverage Period: 12/01/2025 Ongoing
- Clinical Shift Schedule: Flexible schedule (24 MD / 8 NPPA coverage per day) COVERAGE DATES
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- End Date: Open/Ongoing
- Credentialing Timeline: 30 days (Emergency credentialing available)
PATIENT INFORMATION
- Patient Demographics: Adults and Pediatrics
- Patient Volume/Census: 14,000 annual ED volume
- Admissions: Yes, per emergency department volume
- Phone Consults: As needed within emergency department
- Case Mix: General emergency medicine including trauma, acute care, and urgent presentations
FACILITY INFORMATION
- EMR System: Meditech
- Office Equipment Available: Standard ED setup
- Specialty Backup Available: 24 MD coverage daily
- Support Staff Available: 8 NPPAs per day
- Reason for Coverage: Full-time vacancy
- Nearest Airport: Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA)
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
- Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
- Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (emergency credentialing)
- Credentialing Timeline: 30 days
- Compliance: Copies of all education and training diplomas, COI, driver's license, color photo, and malpractice documentation required

- Emergency medicine clinical procedures as appropriate to scope of practice
- Patient evaluations and management across full acuity spectrum
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Licenses: Active Virginia State License
- Board: Board Certified (required)
- DEA: Active Virginia DEA required
- Certifications: ACLS required
- Experience: Prior emergency medicine experience preferred
- Other Qualifications: CME and case logs (past 2 years), education/training diplomas, COI, driver's license, color photo, and malpractice documentation
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive emergency care for patients presenting to the ED
- Collaborate with attending physicians and other APPs to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and emergent conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Document all encounters in Meditech EMR system
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to maintain quality of care standards
- Comply with hospital policies, safety regulations, and credentialing requirements
