JOB OVERVIEW

• Job Title: Critical Care Medicine Nurse Practitioner
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Cumberland, Maryland
• Service Setting: Inpatient – ICU
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: 09/01/2025 – Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: 7 PM – 7 AM, Monday to Sunday; 10–14 shifts/month

COVERAGE DATES

• Start date September 1, 2025 (subject to credentialing)
• Ongoing need until permanent hire is made

PATIENT INFORMATION

• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Patient Volume/Census: Average of 8 patients
• Admissions: Yes – ICU
• Rounding: Yes – multiple rounds per night with nursing and surgical teams
• Case Mix: DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, post-operative cardiovascular patients, open-heart cases, Level III trauma

FACILITY INFORMATION

• No. of Beds in ICU: 18 (open ICU)
• Trauma Level: Level III
• EMR System: Meditech
• Office Equipment Available: Standard
• Specialty Backup Available: Tele-ICU physicians overnight; in-house anesthesia 24/7
• Support Staff Available: Hospital medicine team admits/manages patients
• Reason for Coverage: Turnover Vacancy

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: 60 days

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

• Full scope of critical care medicine procedures as appropriate for ICU setting

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses: Maryland license required to apply
• Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible NP
• DEA: Required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CSR
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Other Qualifications:
• CRNPs only – no other roles accepted
• Preference given to providers with an active MD license

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage ICU patients independently during night shifts
• Complete patient admissions and transfers
• Interpret labs and imaging and take appropriate actions
• Write daily progress notes
• Round alongside nursing and surgical teams multiple times nightly
• Manage post-operative cardiovascular and other critically ill patients
