UT Health Tyler, a 424-bed Level 1 Trauma Center in Tyler, TX, is searching for an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) specializing in Critical Care and Mechanical Circulatory Support to join its highly-skilled team.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work in the inpatient-only setting and have experience in critical care, Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) and mechanical circulatory support and expertise managing patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), Trauma, and Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) settings. You will enjoy being part of a team committed to providing high quality care to those requiring advance cardiac and respiratory support modalities.

About your Work:

  • 14 shifts/month
  • 12 hour rotating shifts (7a-7p or 7p to 7a)
  • Up to 12 patients/shift
  • No Call Requirement-(open for discussion depending on candidate interest)
  • Cover and Round on all ECLS and Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) patients providing high-quality, evidence-based care in UT Health Tyler's 58-bed ICU- across the CVICU, trauma, and MICU settings. This includes performing comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating patient responses to therapy.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the management of patients requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), ventricular assist devices (VADs), and other mechanical circulatory support devices.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, residents, fellows, and other APPs regarding critical care principles, ECLS/ECLS management, and mechanical circulatory support. Facilitate educational sessions and contribute to the development of protocols and guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, optimizing clinical outcomes, and improving care delivery processes
  • Contribute to research projects, scholarly activities, and evidence-based practice initiatives within the institution.

Qualifications

Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current state licensure and certification as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant).
- Board certification in Acute Care, Critical Care, or relevant specialty|
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in critical care, with a focus on ECLS and mechanical circulatory support
