Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner Needed โ Greater Northeast Ohio Region; Cleveland, OH
Start Date: March 2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks; potential extension
Schedule
Scheduled clinical coverage with required call
24-hour call shifts, including weekend and holiday coverage
Combination of rounding and call responsibilities
Schedule based on departmental coverage needs
Practice Details
Acute care hospital cardiothoracic surgery program
Operating room, ICU, and step-down unit coverage
Collaborative team including cardiac and thoracic surgeons and advanced practice providers
EMR system utilized for documentation
Clinical Scope
Provide cardiothoracic surgery support including first and second assist in cardiac and thoracic procedures
Assist with cardiac procedures including CABG, valve replacements, aneurysms, and dissections
Assist with thoracic procedures including robotic, VATS, and open thoracotomy cases
Perform endoscopic vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting
Provide postoperative patient management in ICU and step-down settings
Conduct patient rounding, including weekends and holidays
Participate in call coverage and respond to emergent surgical needs
Perform procedures within scope of practice including pacing wire removal, chest tube management, and related bedside procedures
Document all patient care activities in EMR
Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical and critical care teams
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner โ Acute Care or Cardiothoracic Surgery
Active Ohio license required at time of submission
DEA and applicable state prescriptive authority required
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Experience in cardiac and thoracic surgery required
Experience with ICU and step-down patient management required
Endoscopic vein harvesting experience required
Experience with Epic EMR preferred
Strong surgical assisting skills and ability to work in high-acuity environments
Credentialing
Standard credentialing timeframe applies
Submission must include active license, DEA, NPDB, and supporting credentials
Location
Located in the Greater Northeast Ohio region, supporting cardiothoracic surgery services across affiliated hospital facilities within a structured surgical and call coverage schedule.
