Job Title: Locum โ Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant โ Cardiovascular Surgery
Location: Portland, Maine
Overview:
Join a nationally respected Cardiovascular Surgery team as a Locum NP or PA in beautiful Portland, ME. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to step into a high-acuity inpatient setting, contributing meaningfully to a cohesive, collaborative, and independent APP group that plays a vital role in patient care.
Position Highlights:

Assignment Length: 3โ6 months (with potential to extend)

Work Schedule:
-
OR Rotation: Four 10โ12 hour shifts per week
-
ICU Rotation: Three 12โ13 hour shifts per week (includes overnight in-house coverage)
-
Weekends: 1 in 4 or 5 on-call (Friday 6 PM โ Monday 6 AM)

Weekday Call: 1โ2 evenings per week (6 PM โ 6 AM)

7 Adult Cardiovascular Surgeons
-
32 Advanced Practice Providers
-
1,600 pump cases annually
-
All adult cardiac surgery procedures performed except transplants
-
Key Responsibilities:
-
Independently manage complex ICU cases in a high-acuity environment

Vein harvesting using Maquet Hemopro2 EVH System
-
Assist in the operating room (OR) autonomously
-
Collaborate with a tight-knit, experienced APP team and surgeon group
-
Participate in call and weekend rotations as scheduled
