Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for leading and managing all clinical operations within the home health agency. This role ensures compliance with state, federal, and Medicare regulations, oversees nursing staff, coordinates patient care services, and maintains the highest standards of quality care. The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, extensive home health experience, and a commitment to patient-centered service.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure delivery of home health services in accordance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state regulations, and agency policies.
Oversee clinical documentation, assessments, and development of patient care plans.
Promote quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with care standards.
Conduct staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, and competency checks.
Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members.
Manage nurse scheduling, staff assignments, and caseload distribution.
Maintain compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and risk management procedures.
Participate in audits, surveys, and accreditation reviews.
Assist with budget planning and monitoring resource utilization.
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing personnel.
Qualifications

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Licensure
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Skills
Minimum 1 year of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care required.
Experience within a Medicare-certified home health agency strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of Medicare regulations and home health Conditions of Participation.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Deep knowledge of clinical regulations, quality assurance, and healthcare compliance.
Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
