JOB OVERVIEW

  • Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
  • Coverage Type: Clinical Only
  • Coverage Period: 03/09/2026 Ongoing
  • Clinical Shift Schedule: 13.5-hour shifts with 0.5-hour unpaid lunch break; may include weekend shifts; schedule may vary by site COVERAGE DATES
  • Coverage begins March 9, 2026
  • Minimum commitment of 3 months
  • Ongoing coverage with option to extend

PATIENT INFORMATION
  • Patient Demographics: Adults
  • Case Mix: Case variety consistent with a Level 1 trauma center environment; no blocks, no OB, and no cardiac cases

FACILITY INFORMATION
  • Trauma Level: Level 1 Trauma Center
  • EMR System: Epic
  • Office Equipment Available: Standard anesthesia and operating room equipment
  • Specialty Backup Available: Full surgical and specialty support typical of an academic medical center
  • Support Staff Available: Physicians, CRNAs, RNs, and surgical support staff

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
  • Temporary Privileges Available: TBD
  • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES
  • General anesthesia management
  • Airway management and patient monitoring
  • Pre-operative anesthesia evaluation
  • Intraoperative anesthesia care
  • Post-anesthesia recovery oversight

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Licenses: Active South Carolina CRNA license or in process
  • Board: NBCRNA Certification Required
  • DEA: Active DEA Certification
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of anesthesia experience
  • Other Qualifications: Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility per MUSC radius rules; proficiency with Epic EMR required, must be flexible to rotate with other facilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide anesthesia care within the anesthesia care team model
  • Perform pre-anesthesia patient assessments and develop anesthesia plans
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and clinical staff to ensure safe patient care
  • Document anesthesia care accurately within the Epic EMR system
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, credentialing standards, and patient safety protocols
  • Remain flexible to work across multiple MUSC locations as needed
