Job Details – CRNA (Locum Tenens)- Virginia Beach

Specialty: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Employment Type: Locum Tenens – 1099

Start Date: January/February starts only; later starts considered

Contract Length: 1 year (through end of 2026)

Location

Providers will float between three hospital locations in Virginia:

  • Norfolk, VA
  • Virginia Beach, VA
  • Leigh (Norfolk, VA)

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $240.00/hr – $265.00/hr
  • Overtime & Holiday Pay: Time and a half
  • Call Back Pay: Time and a half

Schedule

  • Shifts Available: 8s, 10s, or 12s
  • Typical Schedule: 4x10s (day shift, flexible start times)
  • Minimum Commitment: 1 shift per week
  • Open to: Locals and providers available 1–2 weeks per month
  • Call: Required
    • Max 1–2 call shifts per month
    • Most likely no call
    • Beeper call only

Practice & Work Environment

  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Care team model: 1:4 supervision
  • Team includes 30+ anesthesiologists and 70+ CRNAs
  • Coverage includes one Level I Trauma center and two community hospitals
  • Hospital size: ~700 beds

Cases Include:

  • Large vascular, neuro, high-risk OB/GYN
  • Ortho, general, thoracic
  • Some trauma and outpatient surgery
  • No hearts or pediatrics required for locums

CRNA Responsibilities:

  • Administer own medications
  • Place epidurals, spinals, and arterial lines
  • Lumbar epidurals and spinal anesthesia
  • No regional blocks (e.g., brachial plexus)

Requirements

  • Some Level I Trauma experience
  • State License: VA or compact preferred (open to licensing)
  • DEA: Not required
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Vaccinations: COVID not required (exemption form required)

Credentialing

  • Standard: 90–120 days
  • Emergency credentialing: 30–45 days
  • Name clear required (Name + NPI)
  • Any CV gap over 30 days requires explanation

Travel & Reimbursement if needed (Non-Locals)

  • Lodging provided
  • Car rental provided
  • Mileage reimbursement provided
  • Round-trip flights provided
  • Parking, taxi, shuttle, and ride-share reimbursed with receipts
