NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, located on First Avenue & 97th Street in Manhattan, accommodate over 313,000 outpatient visits, nearly 70,000 emergency room visits and more than 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with New York Medical College.

Responsibilities:

Under physician supervision, with latitude for individual professional judgment, administers general anesthesia or analgesia to surgical and obstetrical patients to render them insensible to pain during operative procedures. In addition, responds to calls outside the Operating Room for resuscitative measures, and pain management.

Functions/Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of the Privacy and Security rules outlined in the HIPAA guidelines
  2. Successfully completes the mandatory HHC orientation
  3. Adheres and conforms to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies and procedures
  4. Serves as liaison to assist communication between staff CRNA’s and Administration.
  5. Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of all anesthesia medications and supplies in all operating theatres.
  6. Capable of interviewing patients for pre-operative assessment and evaluation, select the anesthetic agent, technique, and the use of all anesthesia-related medications appropriate to the individual patient.
  7. Manages the anesthesia process which includes the induction, maintenance, and the emergence form anesthesia.
  8. Capable of setting up and using all equipment available in the Operating Room and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), used for the management of anesthesia and anesthesia monitoring.
  9. Responds to calls outside the Operating Room for endotracheal intubation, cardioversions, and participates in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
  10. Responsible for preparation, and daily maintenance & operation of anesthetic equipment.
  11. Responsible for checking, once a shift, the proper functioning of the cardiac defibrillator in the Operating Room Suite.
  12. Prepares daily work log as required
  13. Adheres to the departmental attendance policy
  14. Participates in team conferences, lectures and grand rounds for the service.
  15. Other duties as assigned by Chief of Service.

Qualifications:

  • Current New York State license and registration as a Registered Nursed.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Master's degree in Nursing

  • Current Board Certification by NBCRNA
  • Current NYS licensure
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire

Annual Base Salary is $220,000; increases based on years of experience.
