At Author Health, we are offering a technology-enabled health care services for seniors with complex mental health conditions. We seek a psychiatrist to provide clinical care and supervise a multidisciplinary team providing virtual-first care to seniors with serious mental illness (SMI).


Job Description: Psychiatrist

  • Oversee a multidisciplinary team of nurse practitioners, social workers, community health workers and health navigators providing care to seniors with SMI
  • Perform virtual-first direct patient care, primarily for patients requiring diagnostic clarification or with complexity requiring a psychiatrist’s expertise, providing treatment recommendations, treatment planning, and follow-up planning
  • Lead team huddles to ensure the care team is working collaboratively toward improving the lives of patients
  • Use outcome measurement tools during the course of treatment to help patients and the treatment team track progress
  • Act as the collaborative supervising physician for psychiatric NPs
  • Provide clinical support to BH team who will be providing short-term psychotherapy, supporting caregivers, coordinating transitions of care, and connecting patients to community-based organizations and agencies
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of BH clinical programming within the market, with an eye toward refining processes that allow the company to scale
  • Collaborate with PCPs, as well as patients’ other providers, to coordinate treatment and help address co-occurring physical health conditions
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Contribute to constructing the psychiatrist’s role within the company, including contributing to company culture and serving as an ambassador for the company’s mission

Requirements:

  • Leader, self-starter, takes initiative, comfort with ambiguity and working in a nascent environment
  • Excitement about providing care to patients with SMI in a new care paradigm
  • Passion about improving the lives of patients and their caregivers, and improving care delivery
  • Board-certified psychiatrist licensed to practice in Florida, or able to obtain a Florida license
  • Greater than three years of experience providing direct psychiatric care
  • Experience treating patients with serious mental illness (preferred: experience treating seniors)
  • Experience supervising a multidisciplinary team of providers
  • Comfort managing patients with complex medical and psychosocial needs
  • Experience working in a collaborative care model is a plus
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
  • Full-time, 40h/week (anticipate 30h/week direct virtual patient care), with occasional on-call responsibilities

This is a full-time, exempt role, with 5% travel possible. Physical requirements include ability to use a computer.
