Dignity Health Medical Group is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona. Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) employs approximately 200 providers and 500 support staff that cover a wide variety of specialties. The medical group has had tremendous success over the past few years and now provides more than 73 sub-specialty services. The physicians provide clinical services in their areas of specialty and many serve in pivotal academic research and leadership roles.DHMG is also heavily involved in preparing tomorrow's healthcare providers. Responsibilities
A Physician Assistant Associate, also known as a Physician Assistant (PA) Associate or PA-C (Certified), is a crucial member of the healthcare team who works under the supervision of a licensed physician. Their role is multifaceted and involves a range of clinical and administrative responsibilities aimed at providing high-quality patient care.
Physician Assistant Associates work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, primary care practices, specialty offices, and urgent care centers. They play a vital role in expanding access to healthcare services, improving patient outcomes, and supporting the overall efficiency of the healthcare delivery system.
- Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to trauma and general surgery patients under the supervision and responsibility of a Physician.
- Participates in education, development and growth of St. Joseph's Trauma and General Surgery Service.
- Provides direct patient care as physician assistant by gathering complete history of patients and performing complete physical examinations or focused physical examinations for specific complaints.
- Completes history and physicals, daily notes ICU and floor, discharge summaries and maintains documentation on patients compliant with SJHMC standards.
- Conducts daily patient rounds as needed on general and trauma surgery patients with complete documentation and charge capture
- Recognizes and evaluates situations which require immediate attention of supervising physician and which require treatment procedures essential for life of patients; responds in appropriate manner.
- Coordinates with supervising physician regarding patients seen in physician's office and hospital, instructs and counsels patients on health and disease issues based on physical assessment, lab and radiographic data.
- Follows up with patient by phone when indicated.
- Coordinates resources to facilitate care for out of town patients.
- Prescribes drugs and medical devices in accordance with the regulations established by the Arizona Joint Board of Medical and osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery.
- Monitors effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and makes appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Secures patient health illness and psychological history by ordering, performing and interpreting appropriate laboratory, radiographic and other diagnostic tests
- Provides back up for clinic, trauma and general surgery call when needed.
- Assists in the operating room on general and trauma surgery patients
- Provides follow up for post operative patients.
- Supports the trauma and general surgery service and SJHMC in achieving and maintaining quality indicators and core measures.
- Assists the residents with patient care and follow up in the trauma bay and in ICU/floors. As well as assists the nursing staff when needed and appropriate.

Qualifications
Minimum:
Background in pre-med.
Degree as a Physician Assistant.
Minimum 3 years clinical experience in related area.
Must hold and maintain: (1) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, (2) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant, (3) Valid DEA registration, 4) American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification - Nat'l, (5) American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification - Nat'l, (6) American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification - Nat'l, (7) Advanced Trauma Life Support.
Preferred:
General and trauma surgery experience.
Pay Range
$54.12 - $90.92/hour
