While most work during the day, you will be enjoying the sunshine.Here, you will spend your time working with other physicians to increase the quality of life of elderly patients, minimize disruptive hospitalizations, and ensure quality care is provided to those that need it the most.You hate paying overhead, the headaches of billing and collection and need we mention the hassles of insurance companies? You still remember why you wanted to practice medicine--to care for patients.
  • Onboard other physicians and provide support to physician teams.
  • Answer calls when they are received timely and engage with nurses in facilities in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Perform bedside assessment as indicated and provide appropriate orders based on patients needs, facility capability including medications, testing, dietary, activity, vital signs, consultations with specialists, ED procedures or evaluation, change in code status, etc..
  • Provide follow-up care and interaction as needed.
  • Document in provided health record system, transmit notes and orders to facility promptly after patient episode.
  • Work schedule is every other 7-day week. Work hours are 6p-7a Monday-Thursday, and Friday 6p-Monday 7a.
Experience and Education
  • Board Certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospital Medicine or other relevant specialties
  • Secondary board certification in Palliative Care or Hospice desirable
  • Active, unrestricted state license
  • Minimum 2 years of experience caring for acutely ill geriatric patients
  • Experience working in a nursing facility or providing Medical Director services is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have the capability to practice in a technologically-enabled practice
  • Computer literate and comfortable navigating a Windows-based PC and web functionality
  • Comfort using telemedicine sotware
  • Familiarity working with electronic health records
  • Responsive and supportive communication skills working with nursing staff
  • Understanding of, and comfort working with resource limitations often present in nursing facilities
  • Competence working with a wide variety of ill patients
  • Experience and comfort with discussing Advanced Directives, comfort care and end of life care is strongly preferred
