Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant to Join Behavioral Health Team in Southern Oregon

General duties include: Managing up to 8 established patients on the inpatient unit during the weekday shifts, and up to 10 established patients on the weekends. All of the patients will still have a Psychiatrist as the primary attending as backup who will co-sign notes.

For home call: 5pm-7am, providing call coverage answering questions on patients in house and providing admitting orders for new patients. For every call shift, there will still be Psychiatry back up for any questions felt to be out of the scope of practice, and the admitting psychiatrist would review all admitting orders the next day. Outpatient work would be a standard outpatient practice where a nurse practitioner would see patients alone and would have a psychiatrist available to review any cases on an as needed basis.

The hospital is a regional referral hospital that offers a wide range of high-quality medical care to residents of Southern Oregon.

Education: Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program. License / Certification: Nurse Practitioner licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing or Physician Assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Experience: Minimum two years of Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant experience in Psychiatry/Mental Health is strongly preferred. Will also consider an Adult Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with some Psychiatry experience and/or Mental Health certification.
