Physician Assistant - Orthopedics

We are looking for an independent, highly motivated and experienced Physician Assistant to work within an emerging care model for ambulatory orthopedic services. This is a unique opportunity to work independently, but with full access to a team of orthopedic surgeons.

Mid-level Healthcare Provider (CRNP / PA)
Provides professional medical care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours. Reports to Medical Director and Board of Managers. Will also work in collaboration with Clinic Administrator to promote and maintain the highest standards of excellence for the clinic.
Position Duties for the Physician Assistant - Orthopedics
Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Review patient records.
Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
Perform a complete physical exam and records findings.
Establish presumptive diagnosis or differential diagnosis.
Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
Administer injections, immunizations and oral medications.
Suture wounds.
Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Provide patient education.
Triage patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
Participate in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Perform related work as required.
Utilize accepted clinic guidelines and standardized procedures in collaboration with the supervising physician(s) in providing medical care to patients.
Discuss cases with physicians and other healthcare professionals, including community providers, to prepare and assist in executing a comprehensive patient care plan.
Maintain all necessary state and national certifications.
