UTMB’s Onsite Telemedicine Program – in order to help improve services at UTMB, the Community Based Clinics program has developed an onsite Telemedicine program. This program provides professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of patients via virtual medical services. Ensures that appropriate health care is accessible and provided in a timely fashion through telephonic or video consult. Works under the general direction of the UTMB – CBC Medical Director, with extensive latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgement.

Specific Duties and Requirements:

  • Office based in Webster City with all equipment provided.
  • Candidate must minimally possess; a current and unrestricted Texas State Medical License, be Board Certified or Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Pediatrics, and must hold a current DEA and TDPS controlled substances registration certificate.
  • Reviews medical histories as provided via electronic format prior to telephonic or video examination; prescribes medications and renders treatments appropriate to clinical impressions via virtual medical services.
  • Refers for face to face visit with primary care, urgent care, or emergency room provider as appropriate.
  • Refers patients to specialists for consultations, evaluations, and treatments.
  • Completes documentation in the patient record in a timely manner as required per the guidelines.
  • May directly supervise assigned mid-level providers to deliver other virtual medical services., providing oversight and review of their clinical practice in compliance with UTMB CBC policy and the State of Texas law.
  • Ensures performance of medical duties within the accepted quality treatment algorithms approved by UTMB CBC.
  • Meets or exceeds all quality and performance metrics initiated as a part of the performance review process.
