Major service lines include women's care, orthopaedics, general surgery, cardiology and emergency medicine. In its women's care specialty, it is recognized by the North Carolina Quality Center, an affiliate of the North Carolina Hospital Association, for having an early elective delivery rate of just one percent (1%). It received the best out of five possible ratings, indicating one of the lowest percentages of unnecessary C-sections out of the state's 82 hospitals. **The Community:** Jackson County was founded in 1851 and named for Andrew Jackson, President of the United States from 1829 to 1837.
